When a girl rejected me, I didn’t accept it. I thought the girl was playing hard to get and kept trying until I ran out of ideas.
At one time I believed my moves were too good to fail! Looking back, it was foolish to continue pursuing someone who was not interested in me for several reasons;
+ She knew what she wanted, and it wasn’t me.
+ She has a right to say yes or no. I met girls I wasn’t interested in, so why should a girl I approach have to be interested in me if she isn’t?
+ A girl who knows what she wants means what she says. If she says no, why should I think she means yes?
+ I don’t have to assist God to get me what He has prepared for me. I was fighting to win her heart yet God had not given her heart to me. (John 3:27)
+ I believed the lie that there was no one else for me in the whole world other than the one I was focused on.
+ If they had said yes after all the pursuit, I’d have ended up being the needy one in the relationship and would have spent the rest of my life pleasing her to keep her love. Not a good idea for building a lasting marriage.
When you make your feelings known as best as you can and someone tells you they’re not interested, don’t insist. Keep the friendship, if you can. If you can’t, it’s okay to move on with your life.
Even when you perceive it’s God’s will, pause and go back to God for further instructions. Even God respects people’s decisions and there is nothing you can do if a girl is not interested in your proposal!
Remember this, you’re special too and if someone cannot see it, it’s their loss. It’s better to look forward to starting a relationship with someone who will be happy to have you in their life than to force yourself on someone who has their eyes elsewhere.
There is no easy way out of these without feeling hurt but you have to prepare for the possibility of rejection every time you express your feelings or choose to love someone. That’s the risk of love that those who find love must be ready to take.
Even God loves all people and desires that they know Him but not all accept Him. Because He has given them freedom of choice, He gives them a choice between good and evil, blessing or curses and life or death.
As a child of God, you can be sure of this; “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28)
One final thought; if the girl is yours according to God’s will, no worries. She can run or hide but God will bring her home. God will not fail to bring that suitable helper into your life in His way and His time. So, look to Him, not her!
