It’s impossible to figure out everything about anyone. People change. Circumstances change. But the all-knowing and unchanging God is on your side as you consider who to marry.
If you’re not certain of what God is saying, stop and wait. Marriage is not something to rush into. Don’t allow anyone to rush you or push you to decide. If the person is yours, they won’t run a way because you’re waiting for confirmation.
Remember this; God cares about you. He won’t deny you a spouse if that’s what He sees you need. And He won’t give you a spouse just because you think you need one. Perhaps being single is the best gift from God to you now.
You may meet your future wife or husband and like them at first sight, and that’s fine. Just make sure you know who they are on the inside before you marry them.
The desire to become rich and richer than others drives many people to work hard but this should never be what drives the life of a Christian. That’s what King Solomon observed and wrote, “…most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.”
If you marry someone because of the hyper feelings of love and one morning wake up without the feelings, what do you think will happen next? Will you have fallen out of love?
Anytime a boy and girl pull away from the bigger group and privatize their relationship, yet they’re not ready for marriage, trouble is around the corner. They’ve ceased walking in the light and what they’re doing in secret will lead to unpleasant consequences.
I believe avoiding her saved me from a lot of regrets and trouble. Who knows, she could have been a devil’s agent sent to eliminate me! That’s a scary possibility!
Despite your past and wrong choices, God is willing to restore, renew and reprogram your thinking so you can know and walk in your true identity in Jesus. Will you let Him help you?
In the name of love, lovers have left family and friends, stopped studies or left jobs. Others have killed for love or killed themselves. Isn’t it a marvel that a person you were not born with can become more special than the parents and friends you’ve grown up with?
