18+ Universal & Ugly CONSEQUENCES OF SEXUAL SINS|On All Aspects Of Life

One consequence of sin is enough to wreck your life.

That’s because the wages or payment of sin is decay and death – spiritually, physically, socially, mentally, emotionally and worst of all, eternally when the sinner is separated from God forever. (Romans 6:23)

Once sin takes root, we can’t tell which consequence will ruin our lives. But as we discussed about the 19 Most Popular LIES SINGLES BELIEVE ABOUT SEX|How To Disarm Them, many people keep engaging in sin thinking nothing bad will happen to them. They believe the whisper of the devil that says, “You’ll surely not die.” (Genesis 3:4)

We’re blessed to have numerous examples from the Bible and real life about the consequences of sexual sins.

A wise person learns from the experiences of others while the unwise wait to learn from their experiences.

The most annoying thing about sexual sins is attempting to fulfil a temporary and unquenchable sexual desire in a few minutes and opening a door to permanent lifetime consequences!

Consequences On The Mind|Proverbs 7:1-27

#1: Generates Silent Guilt, Shame, Emotional Wounds & Depression

That’s the fruit of doing what we please rather than what pleases God. Something deep down in us knows when we sin against our Creator. We see the guilt on the faces of children when they steal sugar or make a mistake.

The times I touched a woman inappropriately in my single years, I felt dirty and unworthy to raise my hands in a worship service. I felt free after repenting. Many people may not admit it, but sinful living indeed leads to mental issues!

#2: Creates Unwanted & Unforgettable Memories

They’re many married people who still miss their ex-lovers and feel they married the wrong person! They compare their current relationship with those of the past! Certain memories can work against us. Be careful what kind of memories you build because some are hard to erase.

#3: Seals Covenants & Soul Ties With Sexual Partners

People in a sexual relationship experience an unhealthy attachment, spiritual connection, soul tie or bond. Soul ties can lead to obsessive behaviours and erotic dreams. Such ties from the past can affect current relationships as they consume someone’s thoughts.

No one from the past or in the present should have such strong control over your thought and dream life. You’re free in Christ.

Consequences On The Body|Proverbs 5:1-23

#4: Spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases

These diseases are painful and expensive to treat. They can lead to infertility and sometimes death. Did you know there’re over twenty STDs? Certain STDs like herpes, syphilis and HPV are spread through touching and kissing.

 “Afterward you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body.” (Proverbs 5:11)

According to the World Health Organization website, “Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 70 million people have acquired the infection, and about 35 million people have died. Today, around 37 million worldwide live with HIV, of whom 22 million are on treatment.”[1]

“One may lose control over the anal sphincter causing continuous involuntary leakage of fecal matter.  There is also the increased risk of hemorrhoids, which are quite uncomfortable.  Rectal prolapse—wherein the walls of the rectum protrude through the anus and hence become visible outside the body—is another surgical emergency that is seen resulting out of anal intercourse.”[2]

Did you know many gay people end up wearing diapers? That’s sad. God is smart. That’s why He made the anus for releasing faeces and not have anything penetrate it.

Some people don’t fear STDs because of ARVs and modern medicine but who knows when another untreatable STD will come along and kill millions?

As you read this, a young person somewhere is urinating pus with excruciating pain because of an STD. They have sores and swellings around their private parts. If they don’t get medical attention, they may never have children or lose their lives.

#5: Unwanted Pregnancy

This pushes young men and women into parenthood when they’re not ready. They begin to shoulder responsibilities they can’t handle and afford! Unfortunately, it’s the girl who carries most of the burden as the boy who impregnated her moves on with his life.

#6: Abortion Of Innocent Unborn Babies

According to the WHO website, there’re an estimated seventy-three million induced abortions every year.[3] Most of these are due to what they call unintended or unwanted pregnancies!

Abortion is the murder of unborn babies. Sadly, human rights activists work so hard to stop injustice, torture and wars but let helpless babies die in millions. In western countries, animals have more rights than babies. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

A girl who becomes pregnant and aborts not only kills an innocent unborn child but also harms herself emotionally and physically. Even though the parents may not want the unborn child, God has a plan for that child. No one has a right to take another life, not even their own. (Leviticus 24:17)

Sometimes complications during abortions kill the mothers or make them fail to give birth later. Many abort the last baby they’ll ever have. So sad!

#7: Becoming A Slave Or Addict To Sexual Habits

An addict can’t control his or her cravings anymore no matter how many promises they make to themselves and others. The body gets used to the highs of engaging in sexual activities. Addiction and God abandoning someone to their desires are the two worst punishments for sin on earth. (Romans 1:24, Psalms 81:12) The worst is the destruction of the soul in hell.

God never created us to be controlled by anyone or any habit. (1 Corinthians 6:12) That’s why I am so grateful for the freedom I enjoy in Christ. Strive to be mastered by nothing or no one except the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:9)

#8: Leads To Other Vices & Sins

Sexual immorality thrives in the company of lying, deception and dishonesty.

To numb the guilt and shame associated with sexual immorality, sexually active people may abuse drugs and alcohol. Others end up giving up on the natural way of having sex and start engaging in homosexuality and bestiality.

I’ve observed that homosexuality in a society is the graduation or progression, fruit or harvest of rebellion against God, sexual immorality, relationship heartbreaks and family breakdown. Call it the filling of the cup of sin of a people that they’re no longer satisfied with the natural way of sex, they now graduate to the unnatural way of having pleasure.

Because they give themselves to passionate lust, God in turn gives them over to their desires and cravings. They degrade their bodies. So, men lust after men and women lust after women. (Romans 1:18-32, Ephesians 4:19)

That means that fighting homosexuality without dealing with other vices of immorality like lust, fornication, pornography and masturbation is like trying to tap water with a sieve.

Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse a guilty conscience and deal with the root of cause of all sin – our sinful nature. And knowing our identity in Christ fills the emptiness of our lives and gives us a new purpose to live for. Until the Prince of peace is welcomed into someone’s life, they’ll never find true peace. (Isaiah 48:22, John 14:27)

Consequences On Relationship With God|Proverbs 6:20-35

#9: Displeases & Hinders Intimacy With God

Imagine life without God’s friendship! Imagine life under God’s displeasure!

Joseph asked Potiphar’s wife, “… How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.” (Genesis 39:9)

Lusting in your mind and becoming sexually active is the quickest way to hinder the presence of God and cut off His favour in your life.

#10: Miss God’s Will

Many people have failed to fulfil God’s purpose and assignments for their lives because of sexual immorality or marrying the wrong person.

Samson didn’t finish well. Amnon’s life was cut short not long after raping Tamar! Reuben as the firstborn of Jacob lost his double portion because he slept with his father’s concubine. (Genesis 35:22, 49:4)

Millions in our generation are missing God’s will for their lives because of sexual sins. Please don’t be one of them.

#11: Transfer of Sexuality Transmitted Demons

A young man confided in me about the horrific dreams he began having after sleeping with his girlfriend. For others, it leads to depression or mental issues they didn’t have before! Are such torment, addictions and spiritual spouses worth it?

The next time you see a sweet-talking and good-smelling handsome “dude” or beautiful “chick”, ask yourself what STDs might be infesting their body and soul! By choosing abstinence, you’re escaping all STDs, both spiritual and physical, that seek to dominate, delay and disorganize your life!

#12: Destroys Courage, Confidence & Authority To Speak Up Against Sexual Immorality & Other Sins

It’s extremely hard for a person to stand in public and declare freedom in an area they’re bound. And those who hide their secret sexual habits know they’re living a lie and live in fear of being exposed one day. Only the righteous have the boldness of a lion against sin and the wicked. (Proverbs 28:1)

#13: Punishment & Discipline From God

Prophet Nathan told David the story of a rich man who took and slaughtered the only lamb of a poor person. David said that person should pay four times over.

“You’re that man,” Nathan said. (2 Samuel 12:6-7)

He passed judgement on himself and as a consequence, his four sons died young – firstborn with Bathsheba, Amnon, Absalom and Adonijah. God fully forgave David, but the consequences remained.

Sometimes we can’t escape the consequences of our sins here on earth. And to those God loves, He disciplines so they can change their ways and share in His righteousness. (Hebrews 12:1-13)

#14: Loss Of Respect & Reputation

Sexual sins are committed in secret but when caught, one loses their reputation in the family, community and church.

Many times, the sexually immoral in secret think people don’t know but many times, people get to know sooner or later. And will God not display all we’ve done in secret on Judgement Day? Nothing is done in secret in this world! God sees everywhere at all times.

#15: Lead To Murder

Social media and news are full of stories of love gone wrong due to jealousy, infidelity and other conflicts.

Recently, a Ugandan lady locked her boyfriend and cousin sister in her house and set it on fire burning them alive because he was cheating on her with the cousin.

In the bible, the story of Amnon and Tamar is sad!

Absalom killed his half-brother Amnon because of raping his sister. Many years before, the children of Jacob killed all the men of a city whose prince raped their sister Dinah. The lack of self-control of one man led to the death of his entire family and town. Was it worth it? (Genesis 34)

Victims of sextortion have committed suicide after failing to raise more money for the people who were threatening to expose their sexual images.

Another worrying trend is the number of youths with mental issues, who abuse drugs and who commit suicide. Many of these cases are due to the pressure of navigating the turbulent waters of sex, love and seeking to become accepted and popular.

Engaging in sex early can open up a person to demonic influences that lead to depression and a person becomes convinced suicide is the only escape.

#16: Lead To Increased Possibility Of Breakups & Divorce

+ Due to lust – people think it’s love and after getting what they want, they walk away.

+ Due to a breakdown of trust because one wonders who else their partner is sleeping with.

+ Due to the corruption of sexual immorality, a person doesn’t know how to love well. They’re always looking out for their sexual satisfaction so they fail to satisfy their present partner. That’s why it’s wise for singles to keep themselves pure for their future married spouse who will become the focus of their love.

+ Due to unhealed wounds from past relationships.

+ Due to unwillingness to abandon certain habits that make it hard to love and live with others.

#17: Children Born Out Of Broken Families Are More Likely To Engage In Bad Behaviours

They may be tossed from one family to another or may not be raised by both biological parents. Also, a sexually immoral parent can’t be a good role model for their children.

It has also been observed that children who grow up in unstable families are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol, join gangs and engage in other destructive habits. Many end up in prison.

#18: Financial Struggles

Sextortion is becoming common where someone threatens to expose or distribute sexual images if the victim doesn’t send them money.

NEVER share sexual or nude images of yourself with anyone including your boyfriend or girlfriend, it can be used against you someday.

When someone contracts an STD, they’ll have to pay for treatment.

Money is spent on habits like prostitution to satisfy sexual addictions and to cover up being found out. Also, if an unmarried couple gets a child outside marriage, they have to take care of that child.

#19: Clouds Good Judgment

Lust makes people not think straight. It makes them fools and plunges them into making stupid decisions that hurt them and their loved ones.

Because of lust, singles marry the wrong people, spouses leave their marriages, careers come to an end, people kill others and close relationships come to an end.

Lust ended in fornication and blinded Samson from the intentions of Delilah despite the numerous red flags. Lust made Solomon marry many wives who turned his heart from God in his old age.

“But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys himself.” Proverbs 6:32

Anyone who plays with lust plays with a very dangerous fire that burns without mercy. And lust isn’t just about sex but every sensual or bodily pleasure that dishonours God like drugs, alcohol and food. To remain wise and sober, flee lust.

As you can see, God is smart and loving when He commands us to be sexually pure. He is simply rescuing us from these ugly consequences that make life miserable, horrific, complicated and unbearable.
