One sign we’re in the last days is “people will become lovers of themselves and lovers of money.” (2 Timothy 3:2)
Thieves are not only those who waylay people in the night or the pickpockets on the street.
Thieves are those who earn or gain money and possessions through lies, deception and corruption. At the expense of others, they make themselves rich. Because of their greed, they murder others by denying them the worth of their sweat or the privilege they deserve.
Here are a few examples of thieves;
#1: Employers who cheat their employees of their wages and salaries by paying them little yet they’re making lots of money or by not paying them on time.
#2: Employees who take company property for personal use, who cheat on mileage, stipends and per diems.
#3: Government officials and workers who take bribes to give service and take brown envelopes under the table to award deals.
#4: Pastors who manipulate and deceive their congregation to give to their ministries in the name of God only to use the proceeds to increase in riches and never give accountability to anyone.
#5: Business people who cheat on their taxes and who cheat their customers.
#6: Accountants who cook books for their bosses or for their gain.
#7: People who borrow money and don’t repay on time, who take stuff on credit and don’t pay and who borrow other people’s property and don’t return them.
There is no small or big thief before God.
We must repent now for stealing and collaborating with thieves in any form.
We must turn away from all forms of thieving, corruption and deception.
If we don’t, here is what God is saying will happen to thieves and the greedy;
4 “Look at the proud!
They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked.
But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.
5 Wealth is treacherous,
and the arrogant are never at rest.
They open their mouths as wide as the grave,
and like death, they are never satisfied.
In their greed they have gathered up many nations
and swallowed many peoples.
6 “But soon their captives will taunt them.
They will mock them, saying,
‘What sorrow awaits you thieves!
Now you will get what you deserve!
You’ve become rich by extortion,
but how much longer can this go on?’
7 Suddenly, your debtors will take action.
They will turn on you and take all you have,
while you stand trembling and helpless.
8 Because you have plundered many nations,
now all the survivors will plunder you.
You committed murder throughout the countryside
and filled the towns with violence.
9 “What sorrow awaits you who build big houses
with money gained dishonestly!
You believe your wealth will buy security,
putting your family’s nest beyond the reach of danger.
10 But by the murders you committed,
you have shamed your name and forfeited your lives.
11 The very stones in the walls cry out against you,
and the beams in the ceilings echo the complaint.
12 “What sorrow awaits you who build cities
with money gained through murder and corruption!
13 Has not the Lord of Heaven’s Armies promised
that the wealth of nations will turn to ashes?
They work so hard,
but all in vain!
14 For as the waters fill the sea,
the earth will be filled with an awareness
of the glory of the Lord.”
Habbakuk 2:4-14
Jesus Christ is coming back soon to judge the nations. If He takes a bit longer, we’ll die and face Him still.
All thieves and the greedy will not inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:10)
The time to repent is now. Ask God to forgive you and wash you with the blood of Jesus.
“If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.” Ephesians 4:28 NLT
